MASTER CHIEF PETTY OFFICER

 

Master Chief Petty Officer (MCPO) Mishiame Gilbert Komla is the senior most enlisted non-commissioned officer of the Ghana Navy. He represents the highest level of leadership of ratings (other ranks) and provides direction for the ratings. He also represents the interest of ratings as appropriate in the Ghana Navy and the Armed Forces as a whole. MCPO Mishiame serves as a special staff to the Chief of the Naval Staff and various senior officers on issues regarding welfare, morale and proper utilization and progression of ratings. MCPO Mishiame is the 6th substantive Master Coxswain to be appointed in the Ghana Navy.

MCPO Mishiame was recruited into the Ghana Navy as an Electrical Technician in 1996. After passing out, he was posted to Sekondi Naval Base for the Basic Naval Training Onboard Ghana Navy Ship (GNS) YOGAGA. In the course of his career, he served on all Ghana Navy ships after his Electrical Artificer training in Nigeria Naval Engineering College where he was awarded Certificate in Power and Plant Engineering. He also holds a Diploma and Advance Diploma in Electrical Engineering from City and Guilds, London. Additionally, he holds a Diploma in Health and Safety Management from Institute of Professional and Executive Development in UK.

MCPO Mishiame has attended all mandatory military courses including Special Qualification Courses at the Navy Trades Training School, Electrical Engineering Artificer three, two and one from Nigeria Naval Engineering College. He also attended various promotion courses amongst them were Petty Officer Promotion Course and Senior Rates Administration Course both from the Eastern Naval Command.

MCPO Mishiame Gilbert Komla has participated in international peacekeeping operations in Liberia (UNMIL Ghana Battalion 1 and 10) and Lebanon (UNIFIL Ghana Battalion 77).

In June 2016, MCPO Mishiame was appointed the Master Coxswain of the Navy and promoted to the rank of a Master Chief Petty Officer. Prior to this appointment, he doubled as a Coxswain and Technical Chief in charge of Ghana Navy Stores Depot Technical Store in the Western Naval Command.
